Commentaries on the Tanah in Russian
Here you will find books with commentaries on the Prophets, based on traditional sources and presented in a living, contemporary language that is close to and accessible for today’s reader.
These books are the fruit of twenty-five years of joint work by Rav Zeev Lezerson (Meshkov), the author of the commentary, and Luba Lezerson, its content and literary editor.
The books are intended for Russian-speaking readers, Tanakh teachers, students, and all those who seek a deep and independent engagement with the text. They help reveal in the words of the Prophets not only an ancient legacy, but also a living and relevant meaning connected to questions of society, economics, politics, and spiritual life.
These are books that rightfully belong in the modern Jewish library.
Looking for a book?
For the study of the Torah, we recommend the Soncino commentary — available in one volume or in separate books.
For a deeper introduction to the books of the Prophets, we recommend the First Prophets series; you can begin with the Book of Yehoshua.
For the study of the Talmud, Introduction to the Talmud by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, in our translation, is an excellent choice.
For thoughtful reading — whether for yourself or as a gift — we recommend The Theory of Paradox.
For family reading, and as a gift for teenagers, the book How Hoshea Became Yehoshua is a wonderful choice.
In our blog, you will also find articles and books that can be read and purchased online.
